The aim of this paper is to analyse the alleged sustainable mission statement, disseminated by three leading contractors, responsible for the construction, marketing and commercialization of certified buildings. These contractors have been broadcasting a similar marketing message related to ethics and sustainability. However, the sole existence of such messages does not necessarily lead to a reduction of socio-environmental impacts caused by them.
